Book Tour And Giveway For What A Girl Wants By Jennifer Snow
Virtual Book
Tour Dates: 3/12/14 - 3/26/14
Genres: Sweet,
Contemporary, Romance
Series: A Brookhollow Story
Friendship is overrated, if you ask her
She's always just been one of the guys…until she falls in love with one of the guys. Except Bailey Sheppard has carried a torch for firefighter Ethan Bishop since high school. And now that his long-term girlfriend has left him brokenhearted, she's free to go after what she's always wanted.
Not that Ethan sees Bailey as anything but a friend. A best friend maybe, but still not a woman he'd be interested in. Pining for his ex has made him blind to the possibility of happiness with anyone else…. But can Ethan resist a woman who knows what she wants?
Excerpt:
Ethan
snatched the phone away before Jim could answer the text, which he
knew he was aching to do, and slid it into his shirt pocket. He
pulled the truck to the side of the highway behind an old, rusted red
Volkswagen Jetta and jumped down onto the gravel. He positioned two
traffic cones in the inside lane, forcing the oncoming traffic to
take the outside lane, as Bailey’s tow truck pulled in front of the
Jetta and she climbed out, clipboard in hand.
“I’ll
be here if you need me,” Jim called from inside the truck,
reclining the seat and shutting his eyes.
“You’re
not even going to get out of the truck?”
“It’s
a simple backup call. I only came along to get out of clinic duty.”
Ethan
shook his head as he closed the truck door. It amazed him how their
work ethic differed so drastically. Jim was four years older, yet
he’d never shown any interest in advancing his rank at the fire
hall. Ethan had worked hard, proving himself to his senior coworkers
and landing the position of captain by the time he was twenty-four.
He
approached Bailey at the front of the vehicle where she spoke to a
short, frazzled-looking bald man. “I’ll just need your driver’s
license and your credit card…and I’ll have you hooked up and
ready to go in just a few minutes. Feel free to sit in the truck to
wait. The air-conditioning is on and it’s much cooler in there.”
The
man disappeared inside the cab of the tow truck and Ethan waited
until he was out of earshot before saying, “This car has to be at
least thirty years old.” He leaned against the bumper to watch her
work and the metal frame creaked in protest.
“That
thing looks about to fall off,” she warned as she put the tow
dolly’s coupler in open position by lowering the locking lever all
the way down and inserting the locking pin to secure it in place.
Good
point, he thought as he stood. “So, before I forget, we’re
holding Luke’s bachelor party at the fire hall tonight—poker,
darts, beer, the baseball game.… If you’re not doing anything,
stop by.” Bailey was a regular at their weekly poker games, much to
the dismay of the other guys, whose wallets she emptied.
“Stop
by? To Luke’s bachelor party—the ultimate boys night?” She
sounded incredulous as she inserted the electrical plug from the
dolly into the switch on the back of the tow truck. That way the
brake lights and turning signals on the dolly would work while en
route to the shop.
“Yeah,
why not?” He knew Luke wouldn’t mind. Bailey had always been like
a third, less-annoying sister to the groom to be, and she kept his
ancient, rusted-out truck on the road.
“I
have Victoria’s bachelorette party tonight. A wine and cheese in
the backyard of the Brookhollow Inn.” She crisscrossed the chains
and connected them to the eyelets on the bumper of the car.
“That
sounds awful.”
“You’re
telling me.”

My Review Of Uncovering You By Scarlett Edwards
Title - Uncovering You
Author: Scarlett Edwards
Author: Scarlett Edwards
Genre - Dark Romance
Release Date - March 27th, 2014
Cover Reveal - February 18th, 2014
Series - first book in series. Second will be out April 20th, 2014.
Synopsis-
When I wake up in a dark, unfamiliar room, I have no idea what's waiting for me in the shadows. My imagination conjures up demons of the worst kind.
Reality is much worse:
A collar with no leash. A prison with no walls. And a life stripped of meaning.
I am presented with a vile contract and asked to sign. It outlines the terms of my servitude. The only information I have about my captor are the two small letters inked at the bottom:
J.S.
Armed with only my memories, I must do everything I can to avoid becoming ensnared in his twisted mind games. But in the end, it all comes down to one choice:
Resist and die.
Or submit, and sign my life away

Excerpt
In the dark, I lose all sense of time.
My sleep is thin. My wakefulness is misery.
A vague longing grows deep inside me. The need for submission. A natural willingness ground into me by the madness taking hold of my mind. I feel it rising. The demonic form consumes me from the womb, sapping my strength, and breaking my resolve.
A cry—no, a scream—rings out in the cold furnace of the night. My head jerks toward the sound.
Is it even night? I don’t know.
I am so tired. I am so lonely. I am breaking, and madness is taking hold.
It’s times like this that the animalistic urge to give in becomes nigh insatiable…My Review: Lilly is a strong character. She is being held captive, by whom she has no idea. This book is suspenseful to the end. Thank you, Scarlett, for a good read.
About the Author
I’m Scarlett Edwards. I wrote my first book as a college sophomore. After six months of edits, it made its debut as Yours to Savor.
That was at the start of 2013. I’ve written more books since then. You can find them all here.
It’s funny how quickly life changes. I used to think I’d need a degree to get a “Real Job.” Then I wrote a few books, they got somewhat popular, and now I’m living the life as a full-time romance author.
Thanks to all my readers for making my dreams come true!

"Woodrum certainly knows her target audience and does a very nice job with the character development of Maisy. This is an incredibly kid-friendly story that makes a great introduction to the genre of mystery for newly independent readers. It's a quick page turning read that encourages kids to think outside of the box." ~ The Children's Book Review
"My name is Kat. I am 9 years old. I would rate this a five because I like everything about it, the mystery the most. It was fun to read. My favorite part was the mystery and the end. I love this book so much. I think other kids would love it too because it has mystery and most kids would like mystery books. Most mystery books have a good mystery. I would love to read the whole series." ~ 5 Star Review, Heather A., Amazon
"I knew I would love this book simply because I knew it would remind me of the mystery books I read in my childhood. I really love how much trust the teachers and community as a whole put in Maisy. She is well deserving of their admiration as the way she finds clues and finds the mascot for the school is well thought out. This is a story any child would love to read. I hope Maisy continues to solve mysteries..." ~ 5 Star Review, Josh, Amazon
My review: Great book for kids who like mystery. Maisy is an adorable character who loves her cherry lollipops. She is an awesome detective. She follows the clues and solves the mystery.

Book Tour And Giveaway For Edge Of Civilization By Jenifer Ott
Virtual Book Tour Dates: 3/14/14 – 3/28/14
Genres: Literary Fiction
Earl Hollsopple lived on the edge of civilization in a deserted shack for nearly forty years. His life was one beautiful night of stargazing after another, until a helicopter flies overhead, and exposing his meager world. It is a sign; it is time for him to return to civilization.
Unknowingly, Earl’s journey parallels another he had deeply repressed, and that is his return from the Vietnam War. The lone survivor of a plane crash, Earl waits for rescue that never comes. He is left to find his way home alone.
On his quests, old Earl and young Earl learn lessons of survival, overcoming isolation and handling conflicts; his travels teach him not just about himself, but humankind. Reaching pivotal points in both journeys, Earl meets fateful loves, leading to destinies that are ultimately intertwined.
Everything in life circles until we are able to answer the riddles that plaque man and humanity. Only until we take the journey, solve the problems of our own existence, do we find our way home.
Excerpt:
The screen door swung open with the ringing of a bell. “Georgina!”
She loved to hear
her name shouted with such passion and exclamation. It made her feel
young and desired. Turning around, she beamed a crooked smile and once
again, she was a twenty-year-old beauty.
“Heya Earl.”
Georgina admired his coveralls and aviator cap. “What’s with the getup,
Earl? You look like you’re about to fly away.”
Earl swaggered to
the counter. “It’s time, Georgina, I’m leaving town.” His eyes shifted
around the shelves of dusty cans and tattered boxes. “I’m going to need a
few things for the journey.”
Georgina came around the counter and followed his eyes, picking out his purchase—can of stew, spam and sardines—before he had the chance to choose. “What do you mean you’re leaving? Where are you going?”
“Home,” he said.
“Where’s home Earl?
You’ve been living in that abandoned mine since I knew ya,” replied
Georgina. “How can you go back to nowhere?”
Earl grunted. “I don’t know. I just know it’s time to go.” He focused on the whiskey bottles behind the counter. “And a couple of those.”
“Well, hold on a
second.” Georgina stepped into a small, neatly organized office and
retrieved a dusty bottle of fine Scotch from the shelf. She returned and
presented it to him, accompanied with two glasses. “Let’s drink to your
journey and for old time sakes.”
Earl released a
boyish grin that Georgina always had difficulty resisting. “Georgina,
you are a woman who knows the way to my heart.”
“If only I could get you drunk, I might be able to bring you to your senses.”
She opened the back door to her garden oasis of native rocks, several
potted plants, and a faded awning to keep cool; a beautiful garden
tilled by a hardened woman. Earl was a mystery to her. She wondered what
brought him to the outskirts of civilization. Did he share a story
similar to hers of disappointment and lost love, or was it something
different entirely? As often as she had tried, she was never able to get
an answer to Earl’s past.

Inspiration
comes from watching way too much Monty Python. The abstract and the
absurd way of looking at normal life, not only offers humor, but
questions many problems in society in a light-hearted manner. If we can
laugh at ourselves, if we can laugh at life, problems do not seem quite
so difficult to tackle. In fact, problems are not as complicated as
they seem; everything is very simple. If you can laugh at it, write
about it and read about it, most likely one would think about it.

"What exactly are you doing
here?" Julian turned to Evie, an edge to his voice.
She backed away and ended up against the wall, again.
"Ask yourself that."
"What's that suppose to mean?" He took another step closer leaving not an inch of space between them.
Evie’s breath came in short bursts. Her hands went to his chest and she felt the steady strong beat of his heart. She wanted to push him off but more than anything she wanted him closer. Her body hummed with awareness but she forced herself to concentrate on answering him. "Just that is was you who got me down here in the first place. If you're trying to kill me, I'm sure there are better ways than sending me to be chimera-chow."
"I didn't ask you to come here." Julian was frowning. The beating beneath her fingers sped up.
"Flavia said you did. Covering your tracks now, are you?"
She raised an eyebrow, trying not to think about the heat that simmered between them. From Julian’s rapid breath it was clear he wasn’t immune. "Don't be silly. This reeks of Persephone." When he spoke his lips were so close she just had to lift her head a fraction of an inch for them to touch hers. The heated brush of his breath called to her.
Instead, she remained motionless while trying to force her heart to return to a more decent rate. "I thought so too."
"Then why did you accuse me?" Julian's glared at her, although she was sure she saw amusement in his eyes. Evie lifted her chin, even though the action brought her mouth way too close to his. "How was I to know you wouldn't defend her and think I'm making all of this up? And how am I to be sure it wasn't really you in the first place?"
Evie's eyes narrowed as she met his eyes. He stared back at her, blinking so slowly, so lazily that she wondered how it was possible when his heart raced wildly beneath her fingers.

I have been a writer from the time I was old enough to recognise that
reading was a doorway into my imagination. Poetry was my first foray
into the art of the written word. Books were my best friends, my escape,
my haven. I am essentially a recluse but this part of my personality is
impossible to practise given I have two teenage daughters, who are
actually my friends, my tea-makers, my confidantes... I am blessed with a
husband who has left me for golf. It's a fair trade as I have left him
for writing. We are both passionate supporters of each others loves - it
works wonderfully...
My heart is currently broken in two. One half resides in South Africa where my old roots still remain, and my heart still longs for the endless beaches and the smell of moist soil after a summer downpour. My love for Ma Afrika will never fade. The other half of me has been transplanted to the Land of the Long White Cloud. The land of the Taniwha, beautiful Maraes, and volcanoes. The land of green, pure beauty that truly inspires. And because I am so torn between these two lands - I shall forever remain crosseyed.
