Piercing The Fold Cover Reveal

BLURB:

For the average human being, seeing dark auras, hearing ghostly whispers, and witnessing a contortion in the face of a passerby could easily be chalked up to hallucinations, daydreams, nightmares; mere illusions in reality. If we look hard enough, we will find explanations for such paranormal events. However, in this world, there are humans that are not so average. These humans are part of a bigger plan. Jesca Gershon-Sera is entering her sophomore year of college in Marietta Georgia, her hometown. She holds down a part-time job with her best friend, her family is close by, and school is going well. Everything should be perfect. Except, recently Jesca has been experiencing strange things; hallucinations, nightmares, daydreams that she hasn’t experienced in years. Jesca attempts to brush them off as stress from her new semester at school, but the illusions plaguing her reality intensify. Jesca “illusions in reality” begin manifesting within her as supernatural strength and abilities. Could she be losing her mind? Ezra Kahn, a mysterious professor of Jesca’s, happens to be everywhere she is recently; since the illusions intensified. Along with the slight fear that Ezra is stalking her, Jesca fears that he may be the culprit of these illusions. One night, in the heat of one of Jesca’s grand illusions, Ezra approaches her with an unexpected revelation up his sleeve. He reveals that she is not losing her mind, but rather all of the “illusions” in her skewed reality are very real and cause for inconceivable, catastrophic events to come. Ezra explains to her that, by birth, she is part of a fellowship of guardians that have inherited the responsibility to protect our earth and the human race. In Piercing the Fold: Book 1, “illusions in reality” are as real as you and I through the eyes of college student, Jesca Gershon Sera, and a fellowship of guardians predestined to protect humanity. *The Piercing the Fold series is intended for Mature Young Adult and Adult readers due to the the paranormal and unorthodox scientific concepts addressed throughout. This series contains a rich mixture of the paranormal, science fiction, romance, adventure, and suspense.

In 2010, Venessa Kimball was struck by an idea, a story, that needed telling. Having always been passionate about the written word, Venessa embarked on writing what would become her debut novel, Piercing the Fold: Book 1; a mature young adult/ adult crossover, paranormal, science fiction series. July 2, 2012, Venessa Kimball independently published the first book in the Piercing the Fold series. Book 2, Surfacing the Rim, released March 14, 2013.

In August of 2013, Venessa joined the publishing house, Crushing Hearts and Black Butterfly. The Piercing the Fold series will be re-published with them beginning with Piercing the Fold: Book 1 on September 3, 2013. Surfacing the Rim: Book 2 will be re-published on September 24. 2013 and Ascending the Veil: Book 3 will be released for the first time on October 18, 2013. The final book in the series, Book 4 (Title TBD) will release in 2014.

As for the future, Venessa is already filling her Work-In-Progress folder. Two of her future projects are contemporary fiction and will reflect her diversity as a writer in other genres. When Venessa is not writing, she is keeping active with her husband and three children, chauffeuring said children to extracurricular activities, participating in charitable 5k and 10k races(crazy...but she loves to run), catching a movie with her hubby, and staying up way too late reading.

Author Bio:

OL RamosYou would think that as an aspiring writer I could come up with something witty or interesting to say about myself. But the truth is, I mostly enjoy telling stories. It's through stories that we learn the world, learn about our history or traditions, and in doing that we learn about ourselves. Ever since I was a very young child, my only dream was to become an author one day. To touch people with my words. Hopefully entertain them, maybe even give them something to think about. I use my books to reach people I normally would never reach. The internet has given us a lot of tools to spread the written word now more than ever. In my life, I've done many things, from supervising sales for big, retail giants, to even being a deputy sheriff. You would think a person who had been shot at for a living would be brave enough to write a biography about themselves. Unfortunately no. I might be a writer right now, but one day I hope to be able to share my stories and experiences with many people. To be able to expand my globe of knowledge and share ideas with others, that's the dream and goal.

Children's Author Blog Hop

I’ve been invited to join this Children’s Author Blog Hop by fellow author Cheryl Malandrinos. She answered a set of questions at her blog, The Children’s and Teens’ Book Connection. She has tagged me to participate, and in turn I’ll tag three authors who will be posting their answers at their blogs.

Here is the link to Cheryl's blog
http://childrensandteensbookconnection.wordpress.com/2013/08/12/childrens-authors-blog-hop/

Now to answer five questions. Here they are:

What are you working on right now?
Currently, I am working on two stories. Both are YA novels. Mysterious Visions is in the revising stage and Scavenger Hunt In The Graveyard is under major revisions. This story is being sent chapter by chapter to my critique groups. Scavenger Hunt In The Graveyard is going in a different direction from the first draft, so I am rewriting most of the chapters.

How does it differ from other works in its genre?
I don’t think it differs much from other works in the same genre except that it is my writing, so the voices of my characters are different.

Why do you write what you do?

Writing is something I've always wanted to do. The voices of my characters have always been young, from 3 - 18. So that is why I write what I do.

This is what I imagine Sarah Kay from Ghostly Clues looks like.

What is the hardest part about writing?

Finding the time to write is the hardest part about writing right now. Recently I took custody of my three year old nephew, so he keeps me busy.  But he sure gives me a lot of picture book ideas.

What is something unique you want readers to learn about you?

I wouldn’t say it is unique but I would like my readers to know how important reading is. I’ve always loved reading. But I have raised three sons and only one of them has captured the love of reading. (He reads non-fiction mostly where I read a lot of fiction) The other two sons read if they have to, but they have learned that it is important to learn to read even if you don’t always enjoy reading.

My Review Of Never Can Tell by C. M. Strunich

The Never Say Never Blog Tour

Books: “Tasting Never” “Finding Never” “Keeping Never” “Never Can Tell”

Tasting Never Blurb

Tasting Never, a New Adult Novel Recommended for Ages 18 and Up

"Never Ross wants to be loved.
It's that simple, but it's not that easy."

Never is a girl with a broken soul who doesn't date nice guys and can't seem to go to bed at night without crying herself to sleep. She doesn't need any complications in her life, especially not when they're attached to a man that could be her emotional twin.

Ty McCabe can't stand Never the first time he meets her. He's aware that the feeling's mutual and the two don't think they'll ever see each other again, but when fate takes a hand and puts them both in the wrong place at the wrong time, Ty and Never form a tentative friendship that opens the door on their dark sides and shows them what it's like to live in the light.

"Sometimes, the only way to go forward, is to take a few, careful steps back."

Keeping Never Blurb

Never's past might be under control, but Ty's is just starting to unravel. After receiving a phone call from his broken past, tensions run high between Never and Ty, especially with Never deciding to do something she's never done and keep her pregnancy a secret.

While visiting a skeleton in his dark, dark closet, Ty is threatened by all that he once was and all that he thought he'd overcome. With his pain about to consume him, Never is the only one who stands between Ty and relapse, who can help him control his emotions and find peace, but is she up to it? After all, with two tortured souls desperate for a healing touch, are they more of a hindrance to one another than a help?

Love, marriage, and a baby. Three things that Ty and Never saw coming. It's judgment time for both of them, time to see if the light really can overcome the dark. Here's to hoping.

Finding Never Blurb

"Tell me, Never, do you still love him?"

Never Ross and Ty McCabe have come a long way – but they can't stop now. Their pasts are still there, ready to sweep over and consume them if they don't confront them. A visit to Never's family seems like the first logical step, but will it make things better or worse? And what about Noah Scott? Ty is Never's tortured other half, but can he also be the healing balm that she so desperately needs? With McCabe's past still a virtual unknown, Never is going to have to make more than one decision capable of breaking both their hearts.

"Ty has changed; I have changed, and things are not always what they seem."

Never Can Tell Blurb

Never Can Tell, a New Adult Novel Recommended for Ages 18 and Up
(Never too Late #1: This series is a follow up to the Never say Never Trilogy)

"This is love. It's that simple."
Some stories are Never finished being told. After all, we're all victims of heartache and strife at some point. Maybe I'm a little more susceptible to both, but I've got an ace up my sleeve. I've got Ty McCabe. He's helped me survive a lot. More than I ever thought possible. We've come a long way together, but we can't stop now. What's that old saying? Don't rest on your laurels? Well, I'm not resting and neither is he. Life didn't even give us that option. We've got problems. Big ones. Let's see if we can do this, survive the downs and get back to the ups. Guess only time will tell.

"...We're just one. Just one, f*cking, twisted bit of soul in love."

I give Never Can Tell a five star review. Never is a strong character with a little bit of bad, tough girl. She struggles to make a life with Ty and her baby. Life isn't always easy. Never is a great character. I look forward to reading the other three books.

Always a fan of the indie scene and 'sticking it to the man,' Ms. Stunich decided to take the road less traveled and forgo the traditional publishing route. Snow Bound (More than Magic #2)
Elizabeth Kirke

One day Sale!!!!! .99 August 10, 2013

Snow Bound Ecover
After learning how to use magic and fighting vampires, anyone would be bored going back to normal college life. As if that wasn’t enough, Jen didn’t realize how hard it would be to tiptoe around her non-magic family and friends. She can’t even talk to her familiar, Rak, without making sure no one else is around! Worst of all, Jen misses the friends she made over the summer. Aside from Rak, they’re the only other magics she knows and she hasn’t seen them in almost five months! Jen is all too happy to accept an invitation to go skiing with the gang. She gears up for two weeks of snow, magic, and fun. Just when everything seems to be going great, an uninvited guest turns up. Soon the skiers aren’t the only things going downhill. Jen thought that vampires were just about the most dangerous thing the magical world could throw at her. Unfortunately, she’s about to learn that people with no magic at all can be just as deadly ...

Elizabeth Kirke wanted to be an author before she even knew what an author was. She used to say that she wanted to be an artist, but that was only because she was too young to write and had to tell stories with pictures instead. She hasn't stopped writing since she learned how. It wasn't long before she dreamed of becoming an author and couldn't be happier now that that dream is a reality. If she isn't writing...well, let's be honest; if she isn't writing she's probably on Facebook thinking that she should start writing. But, if she isn't writing or on Facebook, she's probably doing something involving books, baking, gardening, or yarn. In an ideal world, she'd be reading and knitting while something from the garden is in the oven. Then again, in an ideal world, she'd have a flock of ducks and a couple of goats. Like most slightly-nosy, avid readers, Elizabeth can't resist trying to catch a peek at books she sees people reading when out in public to see if she can figure out what it is. While doing just that one day, she realized that it would probably be the coolest-thing-ever if she caught a complete stranger reading one of her books. That's her new dream.

Will the magic of Paris pull these two lost souls together? Or will their darkest secrets tear them apart?
