Tutankhamunfinal2 copyTitle: Tutankhamen Speaks (The Quest Books Companion to Sons of the Sphinx) | Author: Cheryl Carpinello | Publication Date: January, 2014 | Publisher: Beyond Today Educator | Pages: 80 | Recommended Age: 10+
Book Description: 2014 EVVY Finalist & Merit Award for Historical Fiction from Colorado Independent Publishers Assoc. Long ago the old texts of ancient Egypt alluded to scrolls in which King Tut spoke to the people from beyond the tomb. Many archeologists put this down to an incorrect translation of the ancient Egyptian texts. Others swore to the accuracy of the translation. None of that mattered because the scrolls in question could not be found. Scholars labeled it a hoax, something that never existed. It was ludicrous to imagine someone speaking from the grave. They were wrong on both accounts.

The Buzz About the Books

Sons of the Sphinx:
"Sons of the Sphinx is a time-travel thriller featuring a race against time with the stakes being King Tut being separated from his beloved Queen Ankhesenamun for all of eternity as well as the history books forever portraying King Tut's family as traitors to the people of Egypt. I recommend this exciting story to children ages 11 and older who enjoy reading stories about ancient Egypt or who are just looking for their next great adventure." ~ Renee @ Mother Daughter Book Reviews
"The author has done a marvelous job of negotiating the disputed points of this era and woven them into a seamless time travel historical adventure for middle grade, teen readers and adults. Her characters are well-developed and manage to appear authentic in both the ancient and modern time periods." ~ Amazon, Barbara Ann Mojica
"I am a fan of historical fiction and I really enjoyed Sons of the Sphinx. It is a well written tale that gives readers a glimpse of ancient Egypt and the lives of Pharaohs who reigned thousands of years ago. The author does a wonderful job of filling in details, where historians are uncertain, that add to the believability of this captivating story." ~ Amazon, Stacie T.
"Carpinello is masterful in her descriptions of ancient Egypt and makes this time travel fantasy very enjoyable indeed. Sons of the Sphinx is highly recommended." ~ Jack Magnus, Readers' Favorite

Sons of the Sphinx comes highly recommended and has earned the Literary Classics Seal of Approval." ~ Literary Classics Book Reviews

Thomas Patrick Henry From Family Secret

On my blog today I have my good friend Thomas Patrick Henry from Family Secret.

 1.       What is your name?
Thomas Patrick Henry.  Most people call me Tom. My mom was the only one to call me by my full name.

2.   How do you envision your future?
Hopefully, demon free, but I've got a feeling that won’t happen. I plan to reopen my mom’s antique shop the Cat’s Meow. Work there for a while.

3.  Do you believe in magic? Why? Or why not?
When my mom first gave me the amulet and told me it might have magical powers, I thought she was crazy.  I didn't believe in magic. Magic was something for little kids to believe in. But I was proven wrong when I came face to face with a demon. Now I’m a firm believer in magic.

4.  What is your favorite sport?
Baseball. There is no doubt baseball is my favorite. Go Cubs. When I was young I used to play little league. And one summer I went to baseball camp which was lots of fun.

5.  Do you have any hobbies?
I like to read and collect comic books. Also I have a pretty good bobble head collection. Mostly baseball and basketball players.

6.  What in your past would you like to forget?
My mother’s murder. That is something that will haunt me the rest of my life because she was killed by demons.

7.  Are you lucky?
Yes. I have good friends and a family that loves me.

8.  What makes you sad?
Death. It leaves a hole in your heart.  You know their spirit is still with you watching over you, but you miss their physical presence.

9.  What is your pet peeve?
Being called a kid, especially by adults. I feel when they call me kid they are looking down on me like I don’t know anything because I’m young.

10. Do you have a girlfriend?
Yes. Her name is Sarah.  Her, Rob, and I have been summer best friends for a long time. And then suddenly the magic of love happened.

Summary: A modern-day adventure as our protagonists search for Excalibur and the treasures it holds! Continuing the adventure that began in Egypt a few months prior in The Secret of the Sacred Scarab, cousins Adam and Justin Sinclair are hot on the trail of the second Stone of Power, one of seven ancient stones lost centuries ago. This stone might be embedded in the hilt of a newly discovered sword that archaeologists believe belonged to King Arthur: Excalibur. However, their long-standing enemy, Dr. Khalid, is following them as they travel to Scotland to investigate an old castle. Little do they know there is another deadly force, the Eaters of Poison, who have their own mission to complete. Time is running out as the confluence of the planets draws closer. Can Justin and Adam find the second Stone of Power and survive? And why did Aunt Isabel send a girl with them? Join Justin and Adam as they search not only for the second Stone of Power, but also for the Scroll of the Ancients, a mysterious document that holds important clues to the Seven Stones of Power. As their adventure unfolds, they learn many things and face dangers that make even their perils in Egypt look tame. And how annoying for them that their tag-along companion, Kim, seems to have such good ideas when they are stumped. Awards:

The Buzz About "The Chronicles of the Stone"

The Secret of the Sacred Scarab:
"Wow! That was an action-packed story! I loved how Ms. Ingram just dove right into the story. From the time that Adam is given the scarab to the time that Adam and Justin return home, there is non-stop action. Through Ms. Ingram’s fantastic writing skills, I was able to visualize all of the events as they were occurring. I can totally see the story in this book transformed into a screenplay for the big screen. I think it’s a fabulous story filled with mystery, intrigue, and action." ~ Renee @ Mother Daughter Book Reviews
"Author Fiona Ingram mixes history and legends in this fast action adventure that keeps you reading till the very end. The characters are cleverly written. Young readers can easily step into the shoes of these two cousins and experienced this exciting adventure that takes you into the heart of Egypt. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good mystery..." ~ 5-Star review from Coffee Ramblings "Billy", Amazon (US)
"This story ROCKED! It was exciting, action-filled, adventurous and history filled book! It pretty much had everything me (as a boy) would want in a book - danger, mystery, legends, exciting setting, myths and much more. The story was written really well and it kept me reading page after page. I really liked the simple pencil illustrations in the book. I liked the characters of Justin and Adam. They were both nice, smart and brave. The book has no bad language or graphic violence in it..." ~ Tween Review, Erik @ This Kid Reviews Books
The Search for the Stone of Excalibur:
"The Search for the Stone of Excalibur is an enthralling sequel to The Secret of the Sacred Scarab and features strong character development; an exciting, action-filled adventure; an unpredictable plot featuring many twists and turns; and many interesting and educational historical facts seeking to clarify Arthurian legend and folklore." ~ Renee @ Mother Daughter Book Reviews
"Character development is the key to the story, and the dialogue is snappy... If there are young reluctant readers in your family, this might just be the kick they need to get over that hump. (5 Stars)" ~ Lit Amri, Readers Favorite
"Fiona Ingram has once again taken myth and legend and blended it into an exciting page turner. The mystery will keep the reader on the edge of their seats as they follow the cousins in their search for clues in old books and on the grounds of a Scottish castle. The story is well told and is suitable for tweens and up. (5 stars)" ~ K. Springs, Amazon
